In this short documentary Phil LaMarr talks about his roles, and the characters he voices, he talks about how he got certain roles via. Auditioning, he talks to about how he adds depth to a character by adding an accent or thinking about the character itself, thinking how the character would sound and define their personality based off of what they have be designed to act like. He talks about how long typically it will take to record his lines and the process he goes through to prepare himself for acting in the booth.

When he talks about Samurai Jack, he describes about how the animation was mostly quiet and how the show told a story with minimal voice acting, and that he would sit down with Genndy Tartakovsky and talk about how he would want the character to sound scene to scene and from episode to episode.

Every character he voiced has a different personality, setting and age, so he has to adapt to every role differently and prepare himself to make the best of that role as possible. But one thing that I have noticed is the consistency in his voice on every performance he does, being a professional voice actor this would be necessary, I imagine that he'll make sure that the voice he picks to voice each character he would have to be comfortable performing so that he does not strain his voice, this would not be good as voice strain can really affect your voice short term it would have it's problems but not as much as a long term strain.

In this video unfortunately he does not talk about his technique to warm up or any exercises that he does so he can get his voice ready to, but he does say that voice acting is very interesting as much as TV and movie acting, he says that the core is the same you are playing a character and making sure that the imaginary circumstances is made real for the audience, he says that the words on the pages that he is made to act he must understand them and instantly "make it come to life"
